A functional test measures if a product functions.

Description:

A functional test measures if the product meets all the functional and performance requirements. Generally a functional test is done under various environmental stresses such as temperature, vibration, etc. Although part of a DVT (Design Verification Test) it is not a DVT as it lacks verification of other non-functional/performance requirements like COGS/compliance/reliability/etc.

What it is:

A test to determine if the product meets the requirements for function and performance.

Why it is Important:

A functional test is part of DVT and production testing.
